I registered for Orientation, which is January 11th and send an e-mail to the assistant dean requesting an advising appointment to get my initial semester set up, though I can't actually register for classes until November 15th. It will be nice though to have a more specific idea on what classes I'll be taking, plus I've got a few questions.

I also think if I can squeeze it in, I'm going to try to minor in French. Or at the very least, try to take enough French classes that I'm reasonably comfortable with the language. It was a toss up between it and Spanish, but ultimately I think French would be more beneficial to me since long term plans do include eventually moving (or in Hylke's case, moving back) to the EU.

I've also, if all goes well, got a part-time job lined up and my hours would only be on the weekends, which will be awesome! If this falls through, I'm hopeful I can look into some work-study options.

I'm actually feeling pretty happy and confident about how my life is going for the first time in months. At this point, my only real stressor is making sure Hylke's two-year immigration crap get taken care of. I met with our attorney this week and we've got the papers filled out, we just need to get all the supporting documents together. I had our most recent bank statement and cell phone bill printed as proof, but the attorney suggested that I go back and print off several older ones to show a pattern, which I hadn't thought about but it makes sense. My mother is printing off some photographs of us together over various times, which was another of his ideas. Other than that, we need statements of six people, three family members and three non-family members, saying that they know us and can attest to our relationship being legitimate. Annoying, but what can you do. The stressing part is that we only have until December 5th to get this done, but the attorney assured us that would be plenty of time. The only thing we really have to wait on are those statements.
